AI avatars, consent and deepfakes: what to know
October 27, 2026 · 3 min read
Practical rules for using AI avatars responsibly in marketing, and what Fantygen allows and blocks.
Get permission first
Making a video of a real person with their face or voice requires their consent. Get it in writing, for the specific use, including ads. If you are using your own photo, you are the one consenting.
Never imply an endorsement
A synthetic video of someone recommending your product can mislead customers and create legal risk, even with a small disclaimer. Fantygen blocks public figures and impersonation.
Be transparent
Laws and platform rules on AI disclosure differ and keep changing. When a viewer could take a synthetic person for a real one, say so. This article is general information, not legal advice.
What Fantygen does
We check prompts and uploaded images before generating, ask you to confirm rights when you upload an image, keep generations made from uploaded photos out of the public gallery, and give anyone a way to report content.
